Program Overview
A Lottery-Based Path to Family Reunification
Through the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP), Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their parents and grandparents for permanent residency. The application process is unusual: IRCC requires sponsors to submit an Interest to Sponsor form during an annual intake window, then randomly invites a limited number of sponsors to complete the full application.
Because invitations are limited and unpredictable, preparation is everything. Our team ensures your Interest to Sponsor form is filed correctly the moment intake opens, your Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) is met for the required tax years, and your complete sponsorship application is built and ready to file the moment you receive an invitation.
The Super Visa alternative
If you don't receive a PGP invitation — or if you simply want your parents to visit Canada for longer stays — the Super Visa is the most practical alternative. It allows parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years per entry (recently extended from 2 years) and remains valid for up to 10 years. We routinely prepare Super Visa applications alongside or in place of PGP files.
For many families, the right strategy is to file PGP every year an intake opens, while bringing parents to Canada under Super Visa in the meantime. Our team helps you run that strategy without missing a window.
